James Cooper

James Cooper found guilty on an indictment for the murder of Robert Saxby, by shooting him in the right side of his body, in the parish of Croydon on 17^th March 1750: he was also found  guilty on an indictment for the highway robbery of Robert Saxby at the same time: robbing him of a leather portmanteau (valued at 2/-) and a cloth livery waistcoat (valued at 4/-): also for the highway robbery of Robert Boyd at the same time: robbing him of a silver watch (valued at £3), a steel seal (valued at 1/-), a hat (valued at 2/6), a pair of buckskin breeches (valued at 20/-), a pair of silver knee buckles (valued at 5/-), a pair pf steel spurs (valued at 1/-), a pair of leather gloves (value at 1/-), a linen handkerchief (valued at 2d), a gold half guinea and 7/6 in money numbered.  His body was ordered to be hanged in chains after execution (Croydon ?? also hanged there ??).
